A Move You Should Do MONDAY – Skipping

Skipping is something that harkens back to our childhood. Not only was it good for us back then, but it is exceptionally good as we age as it is a stimulates bone growth. Here is how to do it:
- Find a long hallway
- Hop on one foot as you pick up the other knee, then hop again (that’s right, it’s a little double hop)
- Then repeat on the other leg
- You should move forward with each hop
- Swinging your arms opposite to your legs helps
- Then try making it bigger
- Perform 6-10 repetitions on each leg
Why does this matter?
Stimulating bone growth requires a force about three-four times your body weight. Effective bone stimulation occurs with dynamic, intermittent and impact forces. That sounds like a lot, but skipping meets all of those requirements, especially if you exaggerate the movement.
So, find your longest hallway and start your day with a happy skip.
Because nobody has time to be in pain.
Until next time…
