A Move You Should Do MONDAY – Yoga Block Assisted Inversion

Today’s move is the yoga block assisted inversion pose, a perfect way to unwind after a long day of sitting, standing or walking. Here’s how to do it:
- Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor
- Bridge up and place a yoga block or rolled up towel underneath your pelvis
- Tighten your abdominal muscles as you pick up one leg and then the other, keeping your knees bent
- Slowly straighten your knees so your feet are towards the ceiling
- Hold for 3-5 minutes as you take deep breaths, breathing in for three seconds and out for three seconds
- You can add a stretch to your lower back by bringing your feet towards your head
- When you are done with the pose, slowly bend your knees and then lower one leg to the floor at a time.
Why does this matter?
Inversion poses have several benefits including improved blood flow and lymphatic circulation as well as stretching the muscles of your lumbar spine. In addition, inversion poses help reduce stress and improve mental clarity.
Give the yoga block assisted inversion pose a try. Your brain, legs and lower back will thank you.
Because nobody has time to be in pain.
Until next time…
