A Move You Should Do MONDAY – Heel and Toe Walking
Sometimes it’s the simple moves that make the biggest difference. This week’s move is heel and toe walking. I work with a lot of people who manage to walk and even run without being able to do this move. Some are shocked that it is a difficult one for them to do, but just like any other movement, if you don’t use it, you lose it.
Why does this matter?
Heel and toe walking emphasizes muscle activity in the end ranges of ankle movement: dorsiflexion and plantarflexion. These movements are subtle, but integral in maintaining balance and producing power when you walk or run. Having adequate ankle mobility also cushions the forces of walking and running, protecting your knees and low back.
So give this move a try. Maybe even before your morning coffee. It just might be the most important 20 feet you walk today. Get your ankles moving.
Because nobody has time to be in pain.
Until next time…

Kind Regards,
