A Move You Should Do MONDAY – Yoga Block Balance

Today’s move, the yoga block balance series, is a simple exercise that packs a big punch. In less than two minutes, you can unlock your foot and ankle and help eliminate pain up the biomechanical chain. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Stand on a yoga block with your foot parallel to the long side of the block. Make sure your knee is unlocked. Balance for 30 seconds
  2. Swing your opposite leg front-to-back and side-to-side to increase the challenge to your foot and ankle THEN
  3. Stand on the yoga block with your foot perpendicular to the long side of the block. This time, hang your toes off the front of the block. Balance for 30 seconds THEN
  4. Stand on the yoga block with your heel hanging off for 30 seconds

Why does this matter?

Your foot is an amazing structure, housing 26 bones, 20 muscle and over 100 tendons and ligaments. When you wear a supportive shoe all day long, these muscles become weaker and the joints stiffer.

The yoga block balance series can help unlock the bones and reactivate the muscles of your foot and ankle. Not only does this help decrease foot pain and injury, but it also helps activate the largest muscle of your body, your BUTT (or gluteus maximus).

Give it a try.

Because nobody has time to be in pain.

Until next time…

Kind Regards,
