About Course
This seminar will focus on the main biomechanical and structural dysfunctions in the upper extremity that can cause shoulder impingement. It will discuss the scapulothoracic joint, the sternoclavicular joint, the acromiclavicular joint and the glenohumeral joint in detail and how these joints play a role in both the stability and mobility of the shoulder and scapular region. There will also be videos and guided demonstrations to correct anterior and posterior clavicular positions using manual and muscle energy techniques, palpation and mobilizations as needed. Anatomy and Kinesiology will also be discussed surrounding the four different joints as well as muscular force couples, agonist and antagonist relationships and trigger point locations.
Gaining knowledge in these particular concepts will provide the clinician the opportunity to understand shoulder impingement at a higher level and improve their patient outcomes with learned skills and techniques. Exercises will be given and a shoulder impingement checklist from the MIHP Think Tank series can be used for future reference with this patient population.
It will offer video demonstrations, exercises, a shoulder impingement checklist from the MIHP Think Tank, presentation handout, quiz, survey and a certificate. Upon completion you will earn 2.5 CEU credits.
