A Move You Should Do MONDAY – Table Touches

Want to activate your front and back core in one exercise? Give the table touches a try. First, try table:
- Sit with your feet on the floor and your hands behind you
- Lift your butt off the floor and try to make a straight line with your body from shoulders to knees
- Relax your head back as you hold this position
If you can do that, then you are ready for table touches:
- Sit with your feet on the floor and your hands behind you
- Lift your butt off the floor
- Pick up your right arm and left leg and touch your right hand to your left foot
- Return to the starting position
- Repeat on the other side and perform 6-10 repetitions on each side
Why does this matter?
Your “core” is made up of muscles in the back (back extensors and glutes) and muscles in the front (abdominal muscles) that stabilize your spine and allow your arms and legs to do what they need to do. By learning the table touches, you can activate both muscle groups. Planting your hands on the floor and supporting your body weight is an excellent way to strengthen your rotator cuff, muscles that are often injured with overuse.
So give table touches a try. Your core and your shoulders will thank you.
Because nobody has time to be in pain.
Until next time…
