A Move You Should Do MONDAY – Cone Touch with Both Hands

This week’s move, the cone touch with both hands, could be a one-stop move to end low back pain. Here’s how to do it:
- Stand 6-8″ in front of an object 6″ high (you can use a water bottle)
- Stand on one leg and place the other leg lightly touching behind you. Most of your weight should stay on your front leg
- Hinge at your hip and touch the cone with both hands. Make sure to keep your weight on your front leg with your knee unlocked
- You should feel a pull in the back of your leg (hamstrings). If you feel a pull in your lower back, you aren’t hinging at your hip. Keeping your chest up will help you hinge at your hip
- Perform 6-10 repetitions
- Repeat on the other leg
Why does this matter?
The cone touch with both hands is a simple way to manage pain along the superficial back line, a fascial line that runs from the bottom of your toes to the top of your head.

Imagine this is a piece of cloth. Tightening the hamstrings may create tension above and below and it is these area of tension that are prone to injury. Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, low back pain and chronic tension headaches are just a few injuries that may result from tight hamstrings.
So give the cone touch with both hands a try. It’s a simple move with big impact.
Because nobody has time to be in pain.
Until next time…
