Hands on WEDNESDAY – Brachial Plexus Pathway

The brachial plexus is a network of nerves that originates from the spinal cord, specifically from the lower cervical (C5-C7) and upper thoracic (T1) levels. This network is responsible for providing motor and sensory innervation to the upper limb (shoulder, arm, and hand). It plays a critical role in controlling the movement and feeling of the arm and hand.

The brachial plexus consists of five roots, which form three trunks, which then split into divisions, and ultimately give rise to several cords and branches. Brachial Plexus Injuries can occur from trauma, stretching, or compression, and can result in weakness, loss of sensation, or even paralysis in the arm or hand.
