A move you should do Monday – The side sit test

Today’s move is the  SIDE SIT test. Though it isn’t a move you might use every day, it’s a move that can tell you a lot about how your hips are functioning.

Why does this matter?

Your center of gravity is positioned just below your belly button and a few inches behind it. When you walk, run, push, pull or do any other activity, all the ground reaction forces get concentrated on this point. It is the reason why the biggest muscle of our body, the gluteus maximus, and our powerful hip joints, are located in this region.

An inability of your hips to rotate will prevent your glutes from working, causing these forces to go elsewhere, namely your low back or your knees. A lack of hip mobility comes on long before the first sign of knee or low back pain. So do yourself a favor and give this test a try.

A little goes a long way…

If you want to learn one quick fix now, watch this video and share it with someone you think it might help. And if you really want to get your geek on and learn more about the side sit test, download this THINK TANK and learn all about it.

Because nobody has time to be in pain.

Until next time…

Kind Regards,
